Rujuta has done a great job again with her unique conversational style.

Positive points-
1. Topics are well organized with just adequate information on each phase of pregnany-do's-&-don'ts
2. Native fruits and veggies of prominent parts of India are covered.
3. Number of native recipes have been included.

Negative points-
1. The book is true to its title- "Notes". It could have been made more elaborate.
2. The emphasis on yoga asanas is less compared to that on strength training. For people who just do asanas and no other form of exercise this book has left many questions unanswered. Although, the author has mentioned to refer to Iyergar Handbook for Motherhood or look up to one's yoga instructor.

Overall, I would recommend this book.

Steven G. Laitz is Professor of Music Theory at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. He is also an Affiliate Faculty Member in the Chamber Music Department at Eastman. Dr. Laitz is the current editor of the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy.

AN EXCELLENT WORKBOOK -- But check the Files on the CD (not the label) -- They May be Wrong!

The text and the two workbooks in this series by Professor Laitz are first-rate in every way and I recommend them to any serious music student. However, a few copies this workbook (Workbook 1: Writing and Analysis Workbook) were shipped with a faulty CD-ROM. (The label on the CD-ROM is correct, but the files that it contains correspond with the textbook and not this workbook.) Don't let that keep you from using this excellent series, just be sure to check the contents of your CD-ROM when you receive the workbook. If it is faulty, Amazon.com will replace it if you contact them within 30 days.

So, with that warning in mind, I am happy to give this publication a 5-star rating.

Inventive but is it practical?

My first observation on this book is that it is focused on the large group not the small group. However, the rationale for some of the large group focus seems to flow entirely from a preoccupation with dividing large groups into smaller groups and then applying tasks or games to these subgroups. If you have never thought about working with groups this book may be of some use, but by and large I judged many of the examples were impractical in terms of the time and resources needed to get deploy them.
My key reservation about these icebreaker books is that they are written more to help the presenter break the ice rather than any presumed intra-audience barriers.

Breaking the Ice

The Big Book of Ice Breakers by Edie West is a very informative and fun look at ice breakers and how they are used. I read this book for a class project and to be honest, I'm glad that I did. The book describes in detail an array of ice breakers that can be used in the professional setting. The one downfall that I would have liked to have seen presented in the text is a little bit of a better understanding as to why these ice breakers are so important. For example, it would have been nice to see a few real life stories added in to demonstrate some of the results. It would have also been beneficial to demonstrate a few ice breakers that didn't pan out as had been planned in order to give the reader a sense of what to expect. I feel that this book is something that many professional adults should read and familiarize themselves with in order to make the atmosphere of the hectic workplace a little bit more comfortable and enjoyable. There is no such thing as all work and no play. Therefore, I believe just as West does that ice breakers are not a necessity, but they are definitely needed. This book gives descriptive plans on how to execute correct and beneficial ice breakers both indoors and outdoors. While, I had at first believed that the book was only going to cover ice breakers having to do with a professional atmosphere there are also a few ice breakers that refer to just simple everyday living. Therefore, basically anyone could benefit from reading this book. While all of the ice breakers are likely to work in a majority of situations, my favorite one is #50 You Are What You Read. This is because it is basically an activity to show that assumptions about people are not always correct and it is quite possible to have more in common with someone than you may think. Overall, this is an informative book and I recommend it to anyone wishing to "break the ice."

Great choice for low cost textbook

Another great Erotic read

I will never get tired of reading Ben's books. He has a way of creating memorable characters who have crazy and sexy adventures. Dark Tide is no different. I'm not going to give a plot synopsis, you can read the blurb for that. If you like wife-watching/sharing/cuckold reads you'll want to buy this one. The action moves quickly, but not abruptly. Little details add to the story, you'll believe you're on the boat, adrift on the Caribbean, with them. The sex scenes are hot. I also liked the ending. Only the best stories take the time to tell you what happens after the sex, and this is one of them. There was one plot thread that was brought up, then dropped, that I would have liked resolved, but it took nothing away from the story. If you've read Ben's work before and liked it, BUY this one. If you're not sure, but you've read this far in the review, BUY this book, you'll be glad you did, and you'll want to read all his others.

Excellent book. Some of the plot pushed the bounds of believeability, it took nothing away from the quality of the story. There was heat, tension and great set up for all the erotic scenes. The husband wasn't a wimp and there was no humiliation like some of the other low quality stories I have read. All the characters were likeable. The dialogue was very hot and never resorted to the absurd nonsense type of dialogue as in some books. It was good enough that I read it in one day and will be rereading some parts many times again.

Very good indeed

I wanted to dislike this book even before I read it because the premise ( rich guy and wife charters yacht in Carribean with sexy black captain ) was something I was familiar with from a Literotica novella but it was a very different narrative. The book is so well written and the characters were finally ( which is unlike pretty much any of this genres books ) LIKEABLE and BELIEVEABLE. Well developed and crafted with care the story is quite engrossing. It's a lighter story then some of Boswell's work without becoming a silly romp ( which has happend before ) and the ending was finally quite appropriate and clever ( again something the author has had trouble with previously ). It's probably the best book in the Wife watching/sharing genre period. Highly recommended.

A great accomplishment indeed

I write as a Roman Catholic trained in philosophy and theology. I recommend this delightful read as a true spiritual journey. From the first pages, Dr. Lenz surfs the reader right into a wonderful spiritual ambience. Agree or not with every point in his doctrine, one cannot escape a heightened sense of the divine. That is a big gift to our secular culture. Dr. Lenz's work will undoubtedly help bridge a gap, and East will come closer to West and vice versa. That is true development of doctrine, a great accomplishment indeed.

Surfing the Himalayas is one of the greatest spiritual adventures ever written. It can be easy compared to The Celestine Prophesy, or any book by Carlos Castaneda. Master Fwap's enlightening humor takes your mind into a higher level of awareness at the turn of each page. This is an adventure that should be enjoyed by all.

About the Author
Dorothy U. Seyler is professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of William and Mary, Dr. Seyler holds advanced degrees from Columbia University and the State University of New York at Albany. She taught at Ohio State University, the University of Kentucky, and Nassau Community College before moving with her family to Northern Virginia. She has coauthored Introduction to Literature and Language Power, both in second editions, and is the author of The Writer's Stance, Patterns of Reflection, in its third edition, The Reading Context, Steps to College Reading, Understanding Argument, and Read, Reason, Write, currently in its fifth edition and Doing Research, currently in its second edition. In addition, Professor Seyler has published articles in professional journals and popular magazines. She enjoys tennis, golf, and traveling, as well as writing about all three.

Engaging, Interactive, Accessible

I use this text in my Rhetoric 1302 course. Here are the highlights:

-- Chapters are organized so that concepts build upon each other nicely; students often refer to concepts from previous chapters when discussing later chapters.
-- Concepts of classical rhetoric in accessible language.
-- Visually engaging: attractive layout, including visual examples of rhetorical arguments.
-- Examples of speeches, essays, op eds, billboards, TV ads, cartoons... from popular culture and current events that students relate to.
-- Interactive "Try this!" sections that connect abstract rhetorical concepts to rhetorical skills (ie. annotating, analyzing, and writing essays and other texts).

I found that many of the topics covered in this are very subjective of the author or what most people would deem "common sense". Granted I had to read this for a college course, I typically find rhetoric books at least somewhat interesting or informative, Argument! is not a good read.
